Intro: C / G7 / C /

C
There is a house down in New Orleans
     F C
They call the Rising Sun
             F
And it's been the ruin of a many poor boy
     C G7 C
And me, oh God, for one

C
Then fill the glasses to the brim
                         C
Let the drinks go merrily 'round
                               F
And we'll drink to the health of a rounder, poor boy
      C G7 C
Who goes from town to town

C
The only thing that a rounder needs
        F C
Is his suitcase and a trunk
                       F
And the only time he's satisfied
       C G7 C
Is when he's on a drunk (Break)

C
Now boys, don't believe what a girl tells you
          F C
Though her eyes be blue or brown
                    F
Unless she's on some scaffold high
         C G7 C
Saying, "Boys, I can't come down"

C
Go tell my youngest brother
        F C
Not to do the things I've done
                    F
But to shun that house down in New Orleans
     C G7 C
They call the Rising Sun (Break)

C
I'm goin' back, back to New Orleans
        F C
For my race is nearly run
                          F
Gonna spend the rest of my wicked life
        C G7 C
Beneath that Rising Sun
