About
Who I am and what this is
Our mission
To raise the collective vibration by any means necessary.
"Any means necessary" does not mean anything goes. It means I will use whatever honest, legal, useful tool fits the job: a coffee cart, a hypnotherapy session, a guitar, a field with some shade, a phone number to call. The goal stays the same. Help people feel connected, and find what they're already good at.
Hi, I am John
My name is John A. D. Cunningham. I live in Mountain Ranch, in Calaveras County in the Sierra foothills, and I am the founder of Music and Healing Arts.
I’m not selling miracles. They just keep happening in front of me, moment by moment. My expressed intention is to raise the collective vibration, by any means necessary. That isn’t likely to change. I can’t do it alone. I need an army.
I am new to the nonprofit world and I am learning it the right way, with help from SBA advisors. I earned my GED in 2023, and I am not shy about saying so. I would rather learn in the open than pretend I already know it all.
Where we honestly stand
Music and Healing Arts is a forming nonprofit. We are aiming for 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status, but the IRS has not recognized us yet. Until it does:
- Gifts to us are not tax-deductible unless they come through a qualified fiscal sponsor that tells you so in writing.
- When a funder needs a 501(c)(3), we plan to work with a fiscal sponsor, which is an established nonprofit that holds the grant for a specific project. Fiscal sponsor: [FISCAL SPONSOR NAME, once confirmed].
- Money given for a project is kept for that project, and I will report back on what we did with it.
We will update this page the day that changes.
What we are not
- We are not a medical or mental health provider. Our programs are about work, community, music, and outdoor time. If you are in crisis, call or text 988. Veterans can press 1, or text 838255.
- We are not trying to change any law. Our recovery work is community support that connects people to licensed care.
- We are not a religious test. Faith communities are welcome partners. So is everyone else.
